Earlier today Alex “ALEX” McMeekin announced his departure from Vitality saying that “You may have seen the rumors fly around, I can now confirm that it’s true,” he went on to state a hectic travel schedule as being the reason behind his departure via a twitlonger post.

“Last year we traveled 36 weeks of the year and by July I was struggling to keep up with the intense traveling schedule, coming into this year we wanted to cut that down to 22 weeks (an extra 2.5 months at home).”

But due to the rapid changes being introduced to the CS:GO circuit which witnessed the introduction of ESL Pro Tour, FLASHPOINT, and BLAST Premier, Vitality could no longer stick to the scheduled 22 weeks of travel.

“The only logical course of action for me after the year that had just passed was to withdraw myself from the team before becoming too tired to put the necessary work in.”

However, the former IGL offered to stick around till the organization could find a suitable replacement but “they choose to look for someone now and that is their decision to make.”

The player went on to thank Team Vitality and a bunch of other individuals who helped him in his journey with Vitality, concluding by saying that “I’m not sure what the future will hold for me, but I would like to thank everyone who has supported me/us over the years and I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride as much as I have.”

ALEX has been with Vitality for little more than a year but in this short duration, he has helped the teams attain victory at ECS Season 7 Finals, EPICENTER 2019, and cs_summit 4. The player has not announced his departure from CS:GO but it is still uncertain what his plans for the future are as of now.
