As announced by Duncan “Thorin” Shields before, the NA based CS:GO league ‘B Site’ has officially announced the qualifying process for teams aspiring to be a part of the league, featuring a $100,000 prize pool along with a confirmed spot in the main event.
This qualifying process will comprise of multiple online open qualifiers, which will be held across three different regions, Europe, North America, and South America. These open qualifiers are scheduled to take place from 5th - 17th February.
16 teams from the European open qualifiers will make it to the closed qualifier where they will be joined by 16 more directly invited teams. Similarly, 8 teams from both the American open qualifiers will qualify for their respective closed qualifiers, joining 8 other direct invites.
Two teams from each of the 3 regions will qualify for the Global LAN Qualifier, which will take place at FACEIT’s studio in Los Angeles. More details about the number of teams qualifying through to main league and how the $100,000 prize pool will be distributed have not been announced yet.
But to enable any team to participate in the league, if a team without an organization manages to qualify for the main league, they will be provided with a monthly stipend of $25,000 for the duration of the season.
With this qualifying process in place, many teams from around the world have an opportunity to play in a tier-one league without paying the $2 million buy-ins from other franchise partners. But sadly the Asian region was not covered by B Site as part of their qualifier campaign which reads that "Everyone should have the chance to become a champion."
Could it be the on-going coronavirus outbreak that might have been the reason behind the region not being included in this qualifying process?
