While pro CS:GO teams are busy evaluating their positions at the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 and the public are up in arms about the bad observing that they have to put up with, Robin ‘Ropz’ Kool seems to have found a game-changing bug on Dust 2.
Currently playing for Mousesports, the 19-year-old found tweeted about the bug along with video evidence while requesting that the bug be fixed at the earliest.
As can be seen in the video, the bug enables players from the CT-side who take cover behind the blue box on the corner of the B-site to maintain vision of the tunnel while keeping their character model hidden or off the screen.
While some users and players suggested that this might be a case of ‘peekers advantage’. Ropz was quick to dismiss that theory as he made a follow up Tweet.
According to this, the player model phases in and out of the box when turning at certain angles, instead of its back being visible to others, effectively giving the Counter Terrorists a heavy advantage to land a headshot while their opponents can only target the body.
As per the official rulebook of the tournament, using of bugs and glitches is prohibited. The detailed clause is as below:
d) Using of bugs or game glitches Using of bugs or game glitches is prohibited. If a player discovers a new bug or glitch, he is obligated to immediately report it to head admin before using it.
The usage of the following bugs is strictly forbidden. If any bug is used which is not listed here it is up to the referee’s discretion whether or not a punishment will be given.
- Moving through clipped areas where the movement by the design of the map is not possible is strictly forbidden (any walls, ceilings, floors, etc).
- The bomb may not be planted in a location where it cannot be defused. Planting the bomb in such a way that no one can hear the sound is forbidden.
- Standing on top of teammates is generally allowed, it is only forbidden when such actions allow the player to peek over, under and/or through a solid object (e.g. wall, box, ceiling) that should not be allowed according to map design.
- Pixel walking is forbidden. A player will be considered to be pixel walking if they sit or stand on invisible pixels on the map, where there is no visible edge or any texture he is staying on.
It will be interesting to see how long Valve will take to address the issue if at all.
