The final day of the New Challengers Stage for the currently on-going StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 kick-started today with AVANGAR taking on Syman Gaming in a best-of-three decider match up.
While the winner would be making its way through to the New Legends Stage the loser of this match-up will be on its way home, getting eliminated from the Berlin Major.
It was no doubt a closely competitive series with AVANGAR pushing through with whatever they had to offer and making its way through to the next stage.

The two teams faced each other on Inferno to start things off. AVANGAR, as expected, was mighty impressive on their map pick as they secured a total of eight rounds in the first half playing T-sided and then moved on to hold the sites tight, to walk away with a ’16-10’ victory over its CIS opposition in the opening match-up.

INFERNO
Syman Gaming struck right back on their map, Mirage. They showed why they are so good on the map as they came back from a ‘6-9’ deficit in the first half to claim the map and take the series down to a decider.

MIRAGE
The final match was played on Dust 2. Taking a look back at the last six months, AVANGAR has played on this particular map a lot more than Syman, and despite playing the map more number of time they still had a 61% win rate on it.
This was exactly the reason behind Syman getting demolished on the map. They fought to survive playing CT-sided but could not manage to secure a single round in the second half, as AVANAGAR went on to claim the map ’16-5’, winning the three-game match-up by a series score of ‘2-1’.

DUST 2
Alexey ‘qikert’ Golubev was the key to AVANGAR’s success, leading them by achieving an overall rating of 1.46 across all the three maps according to HLTV. He had a K-D difference of +20, clutching multiple rounds for his side and not letting go of the momentum once attained.

With this, AVANGAR moves on to secure a legends stage finish at the very least once again, while Syman Gaming despite having a strong start and taking down some heavyweights like Vitality & FURIA were not able to cross the final hurdle.
Stay tuned as two more elimination matches are about to come to an end shortly.
