The ESL India Premiership which is about to start with its Summer Season league from 26th April onwards has just announced the CS:GO Master League teams via its Facebook page.

U Cypher's Comeback

Amongst the eight Master League teams, we came across a team called ‘U GEIST’.

The registered players under the team's roster on the ESL India Premiership website are as below:

  • Amar ‘rey’ Ratnam

  • Akshay ‘KappA’ Sinkar

  • Ritesh ‘RiTz’ Shah

  • Anish ‘Bogeymanh’ Singh

  • Varun ‘Menon’ Menon

  • Jay ‘f0xy’ Shah

The roster consists of former ATE Gaming members. Also, another thing to notice is that Amar ‘rey’ Ratnam who was one of the hosts / analysts of the first season of U Cypher is now part of the team's. It's possible that he has registered as the team's manager however given his gloried past in Indian Counter Strike, it wouldn't be too big of a surprise if he made a comeback as a player.

The logo used by the team to represent itself is very similar to the one adopted by the U Cypher which was aired on MTV and received a mixed response from the community. In April last year, the organization hinted at major changes for Season 2. Is this an attempt by the Ronnie Screwvala backed organization to make a comeback in the Indian esports circuit? In any case, here's hoping that the team has a baller soundtrack like the first season of their tournament did!

No official announcements have been made by U Cypher at the time of writing this.

Author's Opinion

With this move, it seems like U Cypher has taken a U Turn! Well I for one am curious to see how the jump from being a tournament organizer to actually competing in one will work out for them.
