TNC Tigers and Alpha Red move on to the SEA Regional Qualifiers

Vignesh RaghuramPublished On:

TNC Tigers and Alpha Red have taken the first two SEA Open Qualifiers slots after hard-fought victories in Day 2 of the Open Qualifiers.

They will now join TNC Predator, and Fnatic in the battle to determine which SEA team joins Mineski in The International 8.

TNC Tigers picked up right where they left on Day 2 of the Open Qualifiers, simply breezing past Entity Gaming in a 2-0 victory to set up a match with Geek Fam. Geek Fam pulled off a surprise upset in Game 1 of the BO3 primarily thanks to a stellar Brewmaster performance from Thiay “March” Jun Wen. But TNC Tigers struck back in Games 2, and 3 with Theeban “1437” Siva making use of his experience to outdraft Geek Fam and score a win sending them through to the Regional Qualifiers.

On the other side of the bracket, Thailand representative Alpha Red who had previously made an appearance on the DPC in the GESC: Thailand Dota 2 Minor managed to secure a place in the SEA Regional qualifiers after beating down XCN Gaming 2-1 in a close series. Either team could have won, but Alpha Red’s Dogbrain carried them harder than Cristiano Ronaldo did against Spain with a 26/3/14 Terrorblade to see them move on to the next round where they easily dispatched Kongdoo with a 2-0 victory and booked their place.

The action resumes once again, tomorrow with the SEA Open Qualifiers #2. With TNC Tigers and Alpha Red out of the way and 3 spots up for grabs, the other SEA teams who are yet to qualify will be giving it their all, to book a spot in the regional qualifiers.
