In an absolute massacre of the Western scene, Day 4 saw three western teams get knocked out of the tournament as China reigned supreme, cementing their place as one of the top regions in the Dota 2 world.
The first elimination match of the day saw NA team, TEAM TEAM get eliminated by Keen Gaming in a quick 2-0 before we saw a clash of the two big Western Juggernauts, OG and NiP.
It was quite a tense series but the biggest highlight came when Ceb and ILTW showed us why exactly the Phantom Assassin-Magnus combo is one of the most feared hero pairings in Dota 2 right now.
But veteran captain PPD pulled it back together for NiP, with two complete outdrafts to instigate a comeback for Ninjas in Pyjamas and win the series 2-0 on the back of Fata’s signature Outworld Devourer and Puck to knock out the reigning TI champions.
But NiP’s joy wouldn’t be a long-lived one, as Keen Gaming took them on the next match and stomped on them. Keen Gaming managed to secure themselves a 5,000 net worth lead at ten minutes and the figures grew worse from there until NiP called GG.
The second game between these two sides was much more even, but Keen Gaming still ended up winning the series after some really smart item purchases which allowed them to mitigate the damage coming in from 33’s Dragon Knight and Ace’s Troll Warlord.
On the other side of the bracket, EHOME took on Gambit Esports. It has been clearly evident over the last two days that these two sides have been a step above the rest of the teams competing in this tournament, and the series between these two teams provided us with several highlight-worthy moments to reaffirm that.
In the end, EHOME triumphed 2-0 after two hard-fought matches. But we wouldn’t be surprised if we get to watch a rematch between the two sides in the Grand Finals tomorrow.
