The India Gaming Show 2017 - A Gaming and Esports Event backed by the Indian Government

AFK Gaming is proud to announce the India Gaming Show 2017 - the first ever Indian esports event backed by the Indian Government!

At the India Gaming Show, Indian Gamers will get to witness Esports Tournaments, Cosplay competitions and various interactive sessions with Japanese gaming industry leaders like Mr.Yoshinari Asao. IGS 2017 also promises to be a treat to Anime and Manga enthusiasts with several interactive sessions including an autograph session with the legendary Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the designer for the characters in anime classic ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion

Several performance-art shows including ‘Game into a stage musical’ and a live performance on ‘Musical Beats into Pokemon songs’ promises to make Pragati Maidan, New Delhi the place to be from the 2nd  to 5th of February 2017.

The event is being organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry and backed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Our humble ecosystem has finally been acknowledged by the Indian Government! The event is also being used to further foreign relationships with Japan and South Korea and also provides an interesting opportunity for gaming corporations across India to establish joint ventures with foreign companies for Game Development, Animation and Character Development. 

Esports and Gaming Competitions

The India Gaming Show will host several gaming competitions featuring a few of the biggest teams in the Indian Esports scene including Entity Esports, Team Brutality and Invisible Wings.

The event will host 6 different tournaments. Dota 2 and CS: GO, the two most popular esports, will be joined by Just Dance, Rocket League, FIFA 17 and Clash Royale in what will probably be the biggest gathering of Esports personalities all over India. The event is free for all, hence if you want to experience all the different flavors of competitive gaming, I suggest you get down to Pragati Maidan on February 2nd where we kickoff the 4-day event. The AFK Gaming crew will be at IGS 2017 as well so be sure to come say hi!

Competition runs deep in the DNA of the Indian Gaming Community, and this tournament will be a big chance to showcase their skill levels and get themselves into center of competitive gaming events in our country.

Cosplay Competition

In addition to gaming competitions at Pragati Maidan, IGS 2017 will also play host to daily cosplay contests which will take place from February 2nd to the 5th. The Gaming / Anime themed contest will be a great chance for Cosplayers to show off their costumes to the world. While all the cosplayers will have a chance to win a prize at the daily competition, the best of the best will be aiming to become The Grand Winner on February 5th winning a trip to the Tokyo Game Show, Japan.

One of the world's most famous cosplayers, Meagan Marie will also be attending the event.

Live Musical Performances

Aya Ikeda
Japanese Pop Sensation Aya Ikeda
There will be big musical acts everyday on the Japan Pavilion Hall at the Pragati Maidan. The technological direction of this event will be reflected with a sophisticated setup of lasers, lights and professional video broadcast equipment. Japanese Pop Sensation Aya Ikeda will perform on every single day. 
For the uninitiated, Aya Ikeda is the pop sensation behind the theme songs for the games Finding Neverland Online, Glory Destiny Online, and Pokemon Ga-Ole.

She also sang the Animation song in Anime Expo in Los Angeles, Japan Expo in Paris, and other events in North America and Asia. She has been instrumental in spreading the Japanese pop culture all around the World.

Touken Ranbu

Touken Ranbu "sword personification training game" takes famous swords from Japanese history and interprets them as bish?nen (beautiful boy). Nitroplus designed the characters and scenario. The game launched in Japan in 2015, and it has a player base of over 1 million users. The game has acquired a large female fan base and inspired a wide range of merchandise, as well as several manga and anime released in the October of 2016.

Nelke Planning will perform the Touken Ranbu at the Japan Pavilion on February 4th. They have adapted the game into a ‘Stage Musical’. The musical will stage its first performance in India during India Gaming Show.

The Expo

Many companies will present their products in the expo area of the Pragati Maidan including companies like Sony, Konami Digital, SEGA Games, Square Enix who will allow visitors to play the games currently under development. Other companies like Samsung, HyperX and NODWIN Gaming will also give the visitors a preview of their products and services.

You can also get a glimpse of the latest technological innovations in the gaming industry by checking out the Virtual Reality (VR) booth in the Sony Playstation Arena which will include games like Batman VR and VR Worlds VR.

The Sony PlayStation Arena will also exhibit games like Batman: Arkham and Resident Evil. SEGA Games Co., Ltd., will be displaying Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone, Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania.
Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. will display exclusive games like 'PES 2017 -Pro Evolution Soccer', mobile title 'Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS,’ and METAL GEAR SURVIVE.
Square Enix Co., Ltd. will showcase a lot of their bestselling games including

  • Hitman
  • Deus Ex
  • Kingdom Hearts
  • Tomb Raider
Samsung Monitors will unveil Curved Monitor for Professional Gamers. This will certainly bring unique experience to the gamer and promises to take gaming to the next level. These Monitors can be tilted upside down.

Other Cool Stuff

There are also various seminars and lectures, Including talkshows by Mr.Yoshiaki Kondo and Mr.Yoshinari Asao, Presidents of Euclide Agency and Gainex co. respectively.
Yoshihiro Shimizu, the Executive Producer, who was behind the iconic Astroboy and Hakugei densetsu animes will be holding an interactive session ‘Japan is the god of Mangas’ on the 4th of February.

[email protected], a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) initiative, will be organizing a Hack’a’thon on the 3rd and 4th of February 2017 to help promote entrepreneurial spirit amongst youngsters and showcase their hacking prowess. The participants will be expected to develop an app prototype that provides solutions to challenges in identified thematic areas using any suitable technology.
