After the double upset yesterday which observed both Fnatic and G2 Esports go down to AGO Esports and Windigo Gaming, the two teams who were not likely to reach the grand finale faced off against each other in a clash that went down to the decider with Windigo Gaming going all the way through to win the WESG 2018 - Global Finals.

Windigo was in prime form as they stood at the very top of their group following which they took down two powerhouses, MIBR and G2 Esports one after the other to reach the finals and go up against AGO Esports representing Poland.

Showdown

The Bo3 series started on Inferno where both the halves were equally competitive but in both the situations AGO were able to pull it through barely as they took an early lead in the series with the scoreboard reading ‘16-14’.

This was followed by Windigo taking them down on Mirage in yet another closely contested match-up where Windigo survived a promising comeback from AGO all thanks to the first half lead that they had gained over their opponents.

Down to the decider, Windigo made quick work of the opposition on Dust 2 to claim the series ‘2-0’ and be crowned as the Champions of WESG 2018.

The Bulgarian representatives were nothing short of impressive as they worked hard and maintained the discipline, knocking down multiple favourites and claim the trophy along with a cash prize of $500,000.

An incredible end to a heavily competitive tournament which witnessed the dark horses coming all the way through. This is the second event of the year in which smaller teams have proven their worth, taking down the HLTV global rank list toppers.
