Telco Singtel announced their 300,000$ esports tournament called the PvP esports Championship. The tournament will feature Dota 2, Arena of Valor and Hearthstone. Online qualifiers will be held for Australia, Singapore and the Philippines.
Each country will host their own national qualifiers and the winning teams will join other invited teams for the massive grand finale in October at the Suntec Convention Center in Singapore.
The national qualifiers for each country will be further broken down into 4 online qualifiers and 1 national qualifier finals. The dates and details can be found in our previous article.
The formats for the online stages have now been revealed and are as follows:
Singapore - Each nation will hold 4 national qualifiers with a maximum of 64 teams per qualifier. These 64 teams will be randomly placed in groups of 4 and a round robin style group stage will be played from which 2 teams per group will move onto the playoffs.
The playoffs will feature a single elimination bracket with 32 teams fighting it out till the end. The games will be bo1’s up until the quarter-finals and from thereon out they will be bo3s. The grand finals will be a bo5.
Philippines - For the Philippines, the maximum number of teams per online qualifier will be 128 and there will be no group stage but a direct playoff stage. Games will be bo1’s till the quarterfinals, bo3’s from thereon and the grand finals will be a bo5.
The games will be played on a platform called Mogul Arena.
The National Qualifiers will feature a double elimination bracket. Most matches will be bo3’s except the first round of the lower bracket which will be a bo1 and the grand finals which will be a bo5.
Registration is exclusive to teams from Singapore and the Philippines.
