The SEA Open Qualifiers #2 finally came to a close today and it is Team Admiral and Sterling Global Dragons who have secured places in the Kuala Lumpur Major - SEA Regional Qualifiers.

In a bracket full of twists and turns with several strong teams like Neon Esports, Entity Gaming, DeToNator,  XCN Gaming and BOOM ID underperforming and missing out the chance to compete in the first ever SEA major since the 'Manila Major' held in 2016.

Here's a brief rundown of the Kuala Lumpur Major - SEA Open Qualifiers #2 - Day 2 and how Admiral and Sterling Global Dragons made it to the Regional Qualifiers.

Team Admiral rises from the ashes and qualifies for the SEA Regional Qualifiers.

Team Admiral, which was marred by plenty of off-game incidents last season, has made it to the SEA regional qualifiers after a series of great performances which saw them exhibit a variety of strategies in the Open Qualifiers.

While they had quite an easy run up until the Quarterfinals, they had to face Indonesian powerhouse BOOM ID for a place in the Semifinals. In a close and compelling series, their new mid laner, ‘MightySavior’ shined as he put on one hell of a performance on his Medusa to skewer them into the Semifinals. Before putting in a clinical performance as a Clinkz in the Semifinals to book a berth in the SEA regional qualifiers.

On the other side of the Brackets, Sterling Global Dragons with their new roster came out on top. After surprise semifinalists, 496 Gaming took out on favorite after the other, SGD finally put a stop to the Vietnamese team’s run in a convincing 2-0 victory to secure a spot in the SEA Regional Qualifiers.

The decision to go with a team of 5 relatively unknown players for this season instead of established faces, seems to have paid off for Sterling Global Dragons

Both Admiral and Sterling Global Dragons have definitely surpassed expectations to make it to the SEA Regional Qualifiers, but they have no time to rest on their laurels as the next qualifiers are all set to kick off in just 3 days on September 17th, 2018.
