Just in case that you were running out of custom games to play in the Dota 2 client, a custom map for Dota 2 in Counter-Strike style: Global Offensive called PolyStrike is arriving soon to grab your attention.

Developed by Ukranian Modder, Mark Mocherad, PolyStrike transforms CSGO into a top-down-shooter similar to popular games like Hotline Miami or Battlerite with low polygonal graphics which makes it one of the most unique custom maps currently developed using the Source 2 engine.

The developer released a video clip that showed the gameplay. Users aim at each other with lasers. The gameplay is very similar to the traditional version of CS:GO with respect to guns and grenades. On release, the game is expected to only feature the competitive game mode.

The controls do not follow the traditional point & click playstyle that most Top-Down shooters emulate. You move around using the WASD keys just like in CS:GO.

The game is currently in the Alpha stage. You can become a part of the Alpha testers by subscribing to the Game’s developer on Patreon. The final version of the game is expected to be released by the end of 2019.

This is not the first attempt to remake CounterStrike as a top-down-shooter. In December 2004 Unreal Software studio released a free multiplayer shooter CS2D. However, the game didn’t really take off amongst the mainstream CS:GO fans. Perhaps Polystrike will do better.
