PGL CEO Silviu Stroie teased the possibility of a Dota 2 event in India according to a reddit post made by user u/heatblaze12. With PGL increasing focus to regions outside the conventional esports locations, the possibility of a Major/Minor event coming to the country seems to be just a matter of time. Last season, with 22 DPC events announced, the hopes were high for one of them to be in India but unfortunately, it didn’t work out.

However, the first Major of this season is being hosted by PGL in the SEA region, in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. 9 other events left to be announced, there still is a chance that one of them could be in India. Since it will be the first big international esports event in the country, it’s more likely that TO’s would want to test the waters with a Minor rather than a Major. ESL already has a strong presence in the esports landscape in India and with PGL showing interest, it could only mean good things for esports fans in the country.

Earlier this year, Indian esports company, COBX Gaming announced their partnership with PGL and even announced an SEA focused tournament called the COBX Masters with a prize pool of 1 Cr INR.
