OpTic India took their first LAN victory at the ILG Season 2 Bangalore Minor. The LAN was hosted by LXG and held at Blitz 2 in Bangalore, OpTic India’s home city and the team got off to a flying start with a win. It may not have been a huge LAN with the absence of many big teams but the victory will certainly have an impact on the morale and confidence of the players. The team picks up the winner’s cheque of 50,000 INR (~730$) and also move onto the regional online qualifiers.
Some initial resistance from DeTox Gaming in the first round was swiftly put to rest by Yb and his boys as OpTic India registered a 16-11 win on Inferno. Team eLy were up next and were brushed aside casually in a one-sided game as OpTic India paved their way into the semifinals.
Here they faced Blitz gaming in a bo3 and quickly got off to a flyer of a start. A 16-5 performance on Cache was followed by a 16-7 domination on Overpass as Snrlx and ran straight into the Greenwall. In the finals, they faced Reload Gaming and again started the series with a 16-11 win on Overpass. This was followed by another victory on Inferno by the same margin that sealed the series and tournament for the OpTic India team.
An unbeaten run in the tournament is great news for OpTic India but they were largely untested by the local teams. It was, however, pretty clear that the team have begun to get their pieces in the right place and both Antidote and forsaken were quite impactful across the tournament. The team will face tougher opposition in the coming weeks as they go up against stronger teams in the ESL India Premiership Fall Season and the Dew Arena 2018 Qualifiers.
