Dota 2 Asia Championship winners, Mineski impressed everyone yesterday with a spectacular run that ended in a first major win for SEA. Now, they have been rewarded with a direct invite to the MDL Changsha Major. The invite was originally extended to current DPC leaderboard toppers, Virtus Pro, but the CIS squad has backed out now, the organizers revealed.
With qualification to TI already secured, VP will look to take a break from the gruelling schedule. They have already won 3 Majors and a Minor this season and are miles ahead of everyone on the leaderboard. Despite having opted out of MDL, they will still be attempting to win another Major in front of their home crowd at EPICENTER.
Mars Media has revealed that the vacant spot will go to Mineski. The SEA squad sits on 4th position in the current scheme of things, but with EPICENTER coming up, they could easily surpass teams like Secret and Liquid, if they are able to have a similar performance as DAC. Mineski might even pick up points if they are to qualify and then do well at the GESC Thailand Dota2 Minor.
Mineski will join fellow invitees, Newbee, Secret and Vici Gaming alongside Regional Qualifier winners, VG.J Storm, Infamous, OG and Vega Squadron. Another SEA team will join them via the SEA Regional Qualifiers while 3 more Chinese teams will make it to the event as well.
