The second SEA Open Qualifier for the KL Major kicked off earlier today with 2 teams set to advance into the Regionals. With some of the heavier competition already having made it through Qualifier #1, the road looked easier for some of the hopeful teams. However, the brutal bo1 format has gotten the best of teams and as some teams found out, carelessness comes at a cost.

A long day of Dota saw the tournament start off in the ro512 and get played all the way till the quarterfinals and only 8 teams survive to face day 2. However, fortunately for those teams, the matches will now be bo3’s giving them a bit more wiggle room in their games.

Among the teams that have made it to the quarters, Detonator and BOOM ID are obviously the two most recognized. Vietnam’s 496 gaming and Team Admiral are also in the mix. Joining them are Malaysia’s BigBrain, Vietnam’s MEGA Aorus, Sterling Global Dragons and an Indonesian stack called PGOrca.

However, during the course of the day, several notable teams were eliminated. Let’s take a look at some of them. Signify reached the ro16 and fell short of the quarters as they lost out to Mega Aorus. Entity Gaming meanwhile, lost in the ro32 itself to Blackjack. Semifinalists from OQ#1, EVOS Esports also fell in the ro32 as did RRQ. The action kicks off tomorrow once again and as usual, we will be covering all the action on the AFKGaming Twitch channel.
