Global Electronic Sports Championship (GESC), following its first event GESC: Indonesia Dota 2 Minor, will be hosting yet another SEA Minor this season.
This May, the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) – a convention and exhibition hall in Bang Na District, Bangkok, Thailand – will play host to the GESC: Thailand Dota 2 Minor.
The tournament will feature a $300,000 prize pool. The event will run for four days (May 9-12), with the playoffs taking place over in the arena over the final two days (May 11-12). The format for the tournament is unclear.
As an official Valve Minor, GESC: Thailand Dota 2 Minor will also give away a total of 300 Pro Circuit points, giving teams even more opportunities to qualify for The International 8. This, for now, will be the last Dota 2 Minor on the Dota 2 Pro Circuit Calendar.
There will be eight teams at the event, with one team being given a direct invite (Presumably the winner of the GESC: Indonesia Minor). The rest of the field will be filled out by squads from regional qualifiers. Since Valve's rules on the Pro Circuit state that, six qualifier slots are mandatory.
Details of the Regional Qualifiers for this event will be announced shortly.
GESC originally had 4 Pro Circuit events in the SEA region planned for this season. But two of them have been canceled.
The GESC: Indonesia Dota 2 Minor is set to kickoff on 15th March 2018. Fnatic will be the SEA representative in this event. They will be joined by Navi, Infamous, Iceberg Esports, Evil Geniuses amongst other teams which are TBD.
