Fnatic win the Dreamleague SEA Qualifiers

Vignesh RaghuramPublished On:
Fnatic have finally earned their place in The Dreamleague Season 9 – Dota Minor after winning their Grand Final matchup against Execration in the SEA qualifier.

Fnatic had a strong run through the best-of-three Playoff Bracket, only dropping a single game against TNC Pro Team over the course of the Entire qualifier.

Fnatic’s path to the Minor started off against Geek Fam, who were brought in as a last-minute replacement, as Mineski decided to not participate in the Minor after they secured qualification to The Epicenter XL Major.

In the first game of the series, Fnatic made very short work of Geek Fam, thanks to Abed’s farmed Invoker who closed out the game with an epic cataclysm combo.

Geek Fam fared much better in the 52-minute Game 2 but Fnatic, with a Clutch Sunder from EternalEnvy, Fnatic closed out the game and took the series 2-0.

With Geek Fam out of the way, Fnatic had just one more series to win to secure their spot in the Grand Finals. Their opponent was TNC Pro Team, the team who knocked them out of both Epicenter XL and DAC 2018.

TNC Pro Team played well but Fnatic’s drafting and play were on point as they took the series with a 2-1 win to move on to the Grand Finals.

TNC Pro Team would go on to lose 2-0 in the Lower Bracket Finals to Execration. Karl “Karl” Jayme was performing fabulously with some great plays across both series to lead Execration to the Grand Finals.

In the Grand Final match, Fnatic struck first with a combination of midlane Outworld Devourer, carry Razor, offlane BeastMaster and a great IO performance from DJ. Fnatic didn’t give Execration any room to breathe as constant pickoffs crippled the Execration lineup forcing them to concede Game 1.

Fnatic picked up Djardel "DJ" Mampustiagain’s Keeper Of The Light in Game 2 who farmed up his Aghanims Scepter+Force Staff+Gem combo within 24 Minutes. Fnatic relentlessly ran into Execration who just had no answer for the constant healing that DJ provided. After multiple team wipes and conceding 2 lanes of barracks, Execration tapped out.

Fnatic will head to Stockholm, March 21-25, to represent SEA at the Minor. Team Liquid and Team Secret have been directly invited to the event while Team Empire and Pain Gaming have qualified for the event through the regional qualifiers. Three other teams (From the EU, China, NA Qualifiers) will be joining them.
