Folks attending the Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds Dota2 tournament can rest assured knowing that the event will continue to take place regardless of the unfortunate circumstances surrounding it.
On the morning of 5th January, Valve Corporation announced that they had decided to rescind the tournament's Major status thereby revoking the Dota Pro Circuit points that were to be awarded as well. Since the announcement, Team Secret, Virtus Pro and Team Liquid have announced that they will not be attending the tournament.
While the move came as a disappointing shocker to the SEA Dota2 community, Fallout Gaming has approached the situation amicably by publicly stating that the event will go on and that the company feels that the regulatory requirements put forward by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) are a step in the right direction towards legitimizing esports.
