Gambit and Renegades locked horns with each other on the second round of the challenger's stage in FACEIT Major: London 2018.
Renegades were coming into the match already facing a defeat against BIG yesterday on Overpass while Gambit had also dropped their match in the first round against TyLoo. This match was very crucial to both the teams as losing this would push them into the eliminator.
Renegades faced off against Gambit on Train in the BO1 match-up.
The pistol round went the way of Renegades playing CT-side but Gambit replied back in the very next round through an excellently executed force buy. Renegades kept building their momentum taking 3 consecutive rounds but Gambit tugged down the lead by winning 2 rounds themselves.
Renegades again extended their lead by taking two rounds in a row but Gambit once again stopped them short of getting a lead too big and executing near perfect plays went on a 5-match streak, loosing just the last round before halftime to manage a single round's lead with the scores reading ‘8-7’.
The latter half of the match started with Gambit winning the second pistol round and stringing 3 more rounds with it to take a significant lead. Renegades finally managed to score this half while following up with another round before giving away one round back to Gambit. The next round was the last to go Renegades way as Gambit took the last three with airtight plays, winning their first match in the tournament with a score of ‘16-10’.
