SEA Dota 2 teams competing for a place in the Epicenter SEA Regional Qualifiers were supposed to have 4 different chances to qualify for it. But those plans have changed.
Organizers for the CIS-based event announced today that the 4th Open qualifier in SEA has been canceled.
The reason? Mineski, Fnatic were previously unable to compete in the SEA regional qualifiers (to which they were directly invited) on the previously scheduled dates. Hence, the regional qualifiers were moved to February 10-12 which in turn has lead to the cancellation of the 4th SEA Open Qualifier.
As a result, the final 2 slots in the regional qualifiers will go to the top 2 teams in the 3rd SEA Open Qualifier.
The organization has also released statement which reads, “We apologize to the teams for the inconvenience; our main goal is for the selection process to be as objective as possible, in order to reveal the best team in the region, and it would be unfair to do that without such teams as Fnatic and Mineski.”
