In one of the most closely contested series we’ve seen in the Indonesian scene, EVOS Esports managed to pull it off in the clutch and emerged victoriously in the Grand Finals with 3-2 scoreline and won the IENC 2019 Championship. With that victory, EVOS Esports has also secured the privilege of representing Indonesia at the SEA Games 2019.
It was a long hard-fought road to victory for EVOS Esports. They beat down Freak esports, Team Orca and finally BOOM ID 2-0 without dropping a single game in their run, to book their spot in the Grand Finals against PG.Barracx.
Game 1 was a relatively easy victory for PG.Barracx, after their tri-core setup started snowballing to victory in the mid-game stage thanks to some great movement across the map. EVOS Esports struck back in Game 2 and 3 with Facehugger in spectacular form on his Necrophos and his Slark.
Game 4 was a 2-hour long epic, with both teams going back and forth across the whole game. In the end, PG.Barracx prevailed pushing the series to a Game 5.
EVOS Esports’ captain Aville rose up to the occasion in the final game with a fantastic performance on his Axe allowing his team to rake in the farm and secure the game and the championship.
EVOS will now represent Indonesia in the SEA Games 2019 event where esports will be a medal event for the first time ever.
Earlier in the day, EVOS Esports also claimed the victory in the IENC 2019 MLBB tournament.
The Southeast Asian Games is a biennial multisports event and comes under the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia. The 2019 SEA games will be the 30th iteration of the SEA Games and feature 11 countries and 57 disciplines. It is also the first SEA Games to have esports as a regular event. The esports titles taking place at the SEA Games 2019 are StarCraft II, Tekken, Dota 2, Arena of Valour and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
