It’s time! 14 days have passed since Icefrog’s last tweaks, so now he has returned with yet another major patch.
We’ve seen each patch come and go with a different spice of change. In 7.11, we saw the first tweaks to the buyback formula in years, and just two weeks ago, sweeping hero and item alterations took the stage. This week, the changes run a little deeper, into heroes’ formulas and the map we play on.
The primary focus of this patch seems to on the Non-Hero numbers like the amount of gold that some buildings give to teams upon death, the duration of Glyph of Fortification, and more. That being said, however, the patch also includes changes to how the bonuses attached to each hero's primary attribute work.
The patch removes any class-specific perks that were earlier available for each hero. This means that strength heroes no longer receive status resistance, agility heroes lose the movement speed bonus, and intelligence heroes no longer get more magic resistance.
Instead, each of the three perks is now available to every hero, at a slightly reduced rate per attribute point. In return, though, a hero's primary attribute now gives an additional 25 percent benefit to the bonuses that it normally provides. For example, agility heroes receive 1.25 points of attack speed per point of agility, as opposed to just one on non-agility heroes.
The map got quite a few changes as well. All structures on the map got tweaked in some manner.
The bounties for all the structures on the map got reduced,
- Tier 1 Tower Team Bounty reduced from 120 to 100
- Tier 2 Tower Team Bounty reduced from 200 to 120
- Tier 3 Tower Team Bounty reduced from 200 to 140
- Tier 4 Tower Team Bounty reduced from 200 to 160
- Range barracks team bounty reduced from 150 to 100
- Filler buildings gold bounty from 125 to 75
While this change might not be the be-all and end-all fix for the Radiant advantage we predicted it is a step in the right direction.
In addition to the bounty changes, Shrines have increased HP(1500 to 1750) and have been given the ability to regenerate. The Melee Barracks have also been given a boost from 1500 to 1800 HP while Glyph's duration has been increased from 5 to 6 seconds.
Status resistance has also been completely removed as a strength-based perk. It has been replaced by magic resistance for strength heroes. Hence it is now only available in Aeon Disk, Tiny's Grow passive and Roshan's Spell Block passive.
Perhaps the most important change in the update, though, is the clarification on how the ‘Aegis’ is pronounced. We now know the “Aegis” is pronounced “ayy jis”, much to the dismay of Tobiwan, one of the chief perpetrators of the ”ayy gis” pronunciation.
