The third day of the ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2018 continued on with the remaining two Playoffs. WIth MVP PK and Flash making their way through to the semifinals, let's look at the results of the remaining quarterfinal match-ups.
The Big Upset
The third match-up took place between NASR and Chiefs. This match was the highlight of the day which showcased some really intense CS action take place in Shanghai.
The first match between the two teams took place on Train where Chiefs played a far superior game when compared NASR. Taking lead in the first half Chiefs kept building upon the acquired lead to win the match with a score of ‘16-8’.
It was the second game that took place on Nuke which was the turning point of the series where the Middle Eastern representatives displayed their true skill, as they executed some amazing plays and went on two big sprees of eight rounds followed by another of six rounds that sealed the deal for them. They beat Chiefs with a daunting score of ‘16-4’, this was definitely not what the Chiefs had expected as they crumbled in a terrible manner to an amazing performance by NASR.
The decider was fought on Inferno where the Chiefs were shut down yet again as they faltered in their attempt to halt NASR’s momentum. NASR started off strong and although they faded a bit towards the ending of the first half, they still managed a good lead which they converted into a victory. Knocking Chiefs out of the tournament as they won the match with a score of ‘16-9’.
Possibly the biggest upset in the tournament so far, it was great witnessing this epic match-up.
The last match of the day was held between B.O.O.T-d[S] and FrostFire, where FrostFire put up a brave fight but the effort was not enough to subdue their opponents.
The two teams fought it out on Nuke in their first bout where FrostFire prevailed victorious in a closely contested match. B.O.O.T-d[S] had obtained a sizable lead by the halftime mark but it was the second half where FrostFire retaliated in full blast taking down B.O.O.T-d[S] with a score of ‘16-14’ and marking a successful comeback.
The second match between the two teams took place on Train where B.O.O.T-d[S] dominated over the Malaysians. The match was pretty much settled in the first half itself when B.O.O.T-d[S] gained momentum by winning the opening five rounds after which they were unstoppable right till the very end, winning the match with a score of ‘16-3’.
The decider took place on Mirage. FrostFire did all they could but B.O.O.T-d[S] was playing on a whole other level as they attained a small lead at the end of the first fifteen rounds. The latter half of the match saw FrostFire pick up a few rounds towards the start but that was all they could muster as B.O.O.T-d[S] won the game with a score of ‘16-11’.
With this, B.O.O.T-d[S] move on to the semifinals of the tournament as FrostFire’s journey comes to an end.
