An Update from the SEA Open Qualifiers #2

So all but 16 SEA teams and the 5 who have already qualified for the SEA Regional Qualifiers have seen their TI dreams come to an end. That list will further reduce to just 8 teams tomorrow when the Open Qualifiers for The International come to a close.

12 BO3s will decide the fate of so many of the SEA teams. I have to say that unlike the Open Qualifiers #1 almost all the favorites have made it through to this stage leaving us with one of the best days of SEA Dota up ahead.

But before that, here’s a look at Day 1 of the Open Qualifiers #2.

Round of 64

Let’s start off with the most significant results in the round of 64, considering the fact that the earlier rounds were basically stomps/byes.

Open Qualifier #1 Quarterfinalist XCN Gaming were eliminated by Filipino team Neon Atomic in the round of 64.

But the other team from the Neon family, Neon Esports were eliminated by Thailand based team Alpha Blue.

Another result to note is that TNC’s female Dota 2 roster, TNC Amazons made it all the way to the Round of 64, before being eliminated by DeToNator.

Round of 32

We saw all of the Indonesian powerhouses, EVOS Esports, The Prime NND and Rex Regum Qeon making it to the next round despite poor results in the Open Qualifiers #1. EVOS Esports have a difficult task of overcoming TaskUs Titans in their BO1 Round of 16 matchup tomorrow.

Execration eliminated Neon Atomic in their round of 32 matchup setting up a date with Blackjack tomorrow.

Entity Gaming made it through the day without much of a hiccup. However, they might have to face Execration once again, in the Quarterfinals tomorrow.

India’s last hope Signify were eliminated by Ohaiyo, YamateH and co.’s Battle Arena Elites. India will have to wait for yet another year for another shot at a TI regional qualifier berth. Beyond Infinity’s performance in the TI6 Open Qualifiers #2 still remains as the best ever showing by an Indian team at a TI Open Qualifier.

PG.BarracX will be taking on DeToNator after both teams manage to secure routine wins in their Round of 32 matches.
