An update from the Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds

It’s been a week of misery for Fallout Gaming. Beginning with Valve stripping the Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds off the Major tag, thereby removing $500,000 from the prizepool and 1500 DPC points.

Although Fallout Gaming has decided to go through with the event, several teams have made social media posts revoking their participation in the event.

Team Secret

Team Liquid

Virtus Pro

Virtus Pro has also confirmed that they will not be participating in Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds through a Press Release on their website.

Mineski

Newbee

Optic Gaming

Optic Gaming’s manager posted on twitter confirming their withdrawal from the event.

Team Kinguin

Team Kinguin’s Manager too took to Twitter to confirm their withdrawal from the event.

Even with so many teams dropping out from the event, Fallout Gaming has been making promotional posts on their social media confirming the teams that have decided to attend the event despite Valve’s withdrawal from the tournament.

The teams who will still be attending the event are:

Evil Geniuses

Team OG

While Team Spirit, Infamous, Pain Gaming, TNC Pro Team and VGJ Thunder haven’t made any social media posts about their participation. Fallout Gaming has basically confirmed their presence in the tournament, via their promotional social-media posts. The omission of the LFY in these posts, also implies that the Chinese organization has decided to not fly-out to the Philippines.

In an interview with Unikrn, Fallout Gaming has ‘Mostly confirmed’ that they’ll refund the tickets of fans who no longer wish to attend the week-long event which kicks off on January 15th. According to the organizers, this is a sad, but fair measure, as Filipino fans of Dota 2 bought tickets for a home major to come see star teams with their superstar players. But with the withdrawal of so many teams, they might not want to attend the tournament.
