EG further hinted that the next three CS:GO players they sign will consist of two riflers and an IGL (In-Game Leader).

Better late than never, Evil Geniuses (EG) has started its CS:GO roster rebuild for the 2022 competitive season by confirming the addition of Damien "maLeK" Marcel as its new head coach. The former G2 Esports coach is leaving the European scene and moving to North America for the first time in his coaching career. He will taking on the responsibility of putting together the remainder of EG's CS:GO roster.

The 35-year-old is an experienced coach who has previously worked with organizations like Team Envy, 3DMAX, and G2 Esports. He will be replacing Damian "daps" Steele whose six month tenure with the team now comes to an end.

EG has gotten the ball rolling with the arrival of maLeK and are now teasing the roles of the next three players that will be joining the team really soon.

Evil Geniuses confirms the addition of maLeK as new CS:GO head coach

Evil Geniuses was one of the first CS:GO teams to start implementing changes following a disastrous run through 2021. By the end of the competitive season, EG had clearly run out of fuel and even the community was raising questions about their participation in the PGL Major Stockholm 2021.

Soon after they crashed out of the Majors, EG announced the departure of Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, Owen "oBo" Schlatter, and Michał "MICHU" Müller. Since then a lot of reports had surfaced but no concrete moves were made until yesterday, 24th December, with maLeK being announced as their new CS:GO head coach going into the 2022 competitive season.

Along with the announcement, EG also teased the roles for their next three signings in the roster. The organization is going to recruit two riflers and an IGL (In-Game Leader) to complete their CS:GO roster.

At this point in time, Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip and Timothy "autimatic" Ta are the two players that are being linked with a move to EG. If the reports turn out to be true, Stewie2K will be moving over from Liquid while autimatic will switch back to CS:GO coming over from Valorant where he currently plays for T1.

There is still the question of who might join EG as their shot caller. Some speculations state that it may be Stewie2K may shoulder those responsibilities while the team adds another rifler.

Further announcements will be made by the North American organization in the coming weeks, giving clarity about the formation of the roster. The current EG lineup is as follows,

  • Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte

  • Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov

  • Damien "maLeK" Marcel [Coach]
