Worlds 2022 Group Stage: Teams, Groups, Schedule & More

Riot Games revealed the four groups for Worlds 2022 during the draw show right after the conclusion of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2022 Championship. The group stage of the tournament follows the opening stage of play-in from where four teams joined these four groups at the Worlds 2022 Group Stage. With regions across the globe having finished their respective summer splits, the draw show determined the groups for the main event. A total of 12 teams (auto-qualified) were grouped into four groups of three and four teams from the play-in joined in. As the Worlds 2022 Group Stage kicks off, 16 teams are in contention for the trophy.

A guide to Worlds 2022 Group Stage

Twelve teams directly qualified for the main event of Worlds 2022 by performing incredibly well in their respective summer splits. Four more teams joined them by making it out of the play-in and were seeded into the four groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage of the competition.

• Fnatic (FNC)

• DRX

• Royal Never Give Up (RNG)

• Evil Geniuses (EG)

Format

Group Stage

• A total of 16 teams participate

• The teams are drawn into four groups based on seeding

• It is a double round-robin setup

• All matches are best-of-one

• The top two teams from each group advance to the Knockout Stage

Knockout Stage

• It is a single elimination bracket drawn randomly

• The first-place teams face second-place teams

• No two teams from the same group can be placed in the same half of the bracket

• All matches are best-of-five

Worlds 2022 Groups: Schedule

The Group Stage of Worlds 2022 will start on 7th October and will conclude on 16th October right in time for the knockouts. Two teams from each group will advance to the next stage of the tournament. The following schedule is in PST and the time and match list for the day is subject to change.

7th October - Day 1 Groups

8th October - Day 2 Groups

9th October - Day 3 Groups

10th October - Day 4 Groups

13th October - Day 5: Group A matches

14th October - Day 6: Group B matches

15th October - Day 7: Group C matches

16th October - Day 8: Group D matches

Following the Group Stage of Worlds 2022, four teams will advance to the Knockout Stage. The Quarterfinals of the tournament is scheduled to take place between 20th October and 23rd October.
