Just a week after receiving a major update which enabled ranked matchmaking for the global audience a VALORANT charity tournament has been announced for the SEA region. The invite based tournament called ‘VALORANT SEA Invitational’ features a $10,000 prizepool and is being organized by Riot Games Southeast Asia.
Details about the SEA based invitational tournament were announced just a few days after the region received its first entry-level VALORANT tournament called ‘VALORANT Pacific Cup’.
The VALORANT SEA Invitational which features a $10,000 prizepool will witness a total of 6 teams being invited for the event. All the five players in each team will either be a content creator or a known personality from the SEA region, meaning a total of 30 creators and personalities will be participating in the charity tournament.
The invite based charity tournament which is slated to take place from 11th July will only witness content creators and personalities from the following regions being invited for the event; Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan.
The $10,000 prizepool is set aside for a good cause as the participating teams take on each other to donate the prize money to GlobalGiving’s Coronavirus Relief Fund which will benefit projects working to contain and prevent the pandemic’s spread.
Chris Tran, Head of Esports for Riot Games SEA, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau says that “This charity invitational is an opportunity for us to unite players in the region through a shared passion for playing and watching the game, all in the name of a good cause.”
Team Incinerate will be representing Indonesia with the following creators being invited for the tournament,
Team Marshal will be representing Malaysia at the event along with the following players,
Team Panorama representing the Philippines will be stepping into the competition with the following players,
Team Spectre will be representing Singapore and their lineup is as follows,
Team Tempest will be the Taiwanese team at the event featuring the following players,
Team Titanium is the final team representing Thailand and comprises of the following players,
The VALORANT SEA Invitational will be broadcasted in multiple languages like English, Traditional Chinese, Thai, Bahasa Malaysia, and Bahasa Indonesia. While being live-streamed on multiple platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch.
The tournament featuring 30 creators might be the largest invitational VALORANT tournament to take place in the SEA region. With such big creators as part of the tournament, it definitely has the potential to attract a lot of eyeballs.
