The revelation of a new season of the Dota Pro Circuit(DPC) has come in as a pleasant piece of news for every Dota 2 fan. The viewers will get to witness some high quality and intense action while the players will strive to reach the grandest stage of all, The International.
In the process, four teams in each region that are in the “best form” have been rewarded with direct invites to the Upper Division of the Regional Leagues. Eight other teams have also been directly invited in each region out of which four will make it to the Upper Divisions.
We take a look at which teams have received these invites in each region.
Valve has handed over the responsibility of organizing the Regional Leagues of the SEA Division to PGL. The four direct invites to the Upper Division are:

The other eight teams that will fight for the remaining four spots in the Upper Division have not yet been revealed publicly by Dreamhack at the time of writing. Alliance, mudgolems, and Vikin.gg are the most likely teams to be a part of this group.
The CIS region will have its Regional Leagues operated by ESL. The four teams that are part of the direct invites to the Upper Division are:
ESL has also not revealed the eight invited teams that will fight in a Decider event to occupy the four remaining spots in the Upper Division at the time of writing.
Perfect World will be organizing the Regional League in China. Four teams that have been directly invited to the Upper Division are:

Beyond the Summit is the organizer behind the Regional League in North America. Four directly invited teams to the Upper Division are:
The North American Upper Division’s working is different from the other regions. Instead of the usual eight, four teams have been directly invited.
These four teams will compete with four teams from open qualifiers in a closed qualifier. Top four teams in this qualifier will make it to Upper Division while the bottom four will be relegated to Lower Division. So, NA is the only region that allows teams from open qualifiers to reach the Upper Division.
Dotapit will be responsible for hosting the Regional League in South America. The following four teams have received a direct invite to the Upper Division:

Open qualifiers followed by these closed qualifiers/decider tournaments will take place from January 4-11 depending upon the regions. The main Regional League for each region begins on January 18 and will continue till February 28 (March 14 for China with a break in the middle) to determine the teams that qualify for the first Major.
