The CS:GO lineup of Gambit Esports is all set to represent the organization and compete under its real identity at the upcoming European RMR (Regional Major Rankings) and potentially even at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022.
While no official announcement has been made by the organization in this regards, Russian rifler Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov in a statement to cybersport.metaratings.ru said that "At least we'll compete at the Major as Gambit. So, everything is fine".
This comes after the team was forced to compete under the alias of 'Players' due to certain sanctions being imposed by ESL for the currently ongoing ESL Pro League Season 15.
Statement by Gambit Esports
The upcoming PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and the related RMR (Regional Major Rankings) tournaments are Valve sponsored events under the publisher's direct control.
This means all the rule changes and any other adjustments need to be approved by Valve before being implemented, they are the ones who are in control of the event and supersede PGL when it comes to decision making.
So far Valve has not announced any sanctions related to the Ukraine-Russia conflict and it does not seem like they will as the RMR tournaments are about to start next week onwards.
While no official confirmation on the matter has been reported so far, Gambit's 19-year-old Russian rifler Ax1Le has confirmed that they will be playing as Gambit during the upcoming Major cycle.
He went on to further state that "Yes, the organization (Gambit Esports) helps us in various matters. Gambit is organizing bootcamps, flights, and arranging many other things. As for moving to another country, I’m not sure. Nothing is clear at the moment, so we will see what the future holds for us and act according to the situation".
This comes after Gambit's support rifler Timofey "interz" Yakushin confirmed that the lineup is extending its stay in Germany to bootcamp for the upcoming European RMR, which is scheduled to take place from 21st to 24th April on LAN in Bucharest, Romania.
