Mobile gaming has become very popular over the last seven years and these five upcoming shooters for mobile are proof of that. Big companies like EA are entering the mobile gaming space with Battlefield and Apex Legends, originally two popular PC titles. While KRAFTON is doubling down on the success of PUBG Mobile by releasing its sequel PUBG: New State. Battlegrounds Mobile India was also teased to fill the void left by PUBG Mobile’s ban in India. With so many developers and publishers declaring war on the mobile game battlefield, it remains to be seen which of these top five upcoming shooters for mobile will dominate.

Apex Legends Mobile

Apex Legends Mobile, the mobile version of the popular PC battle royale has been hinted at since May 2019 by Electronic Arts (EA). However, the hardware requirements for the game seem demanding. Players with Android devices will need a Snapdragon 625 or higher processor. For iOS users, A11 Bionic and above are required, meaning iPhone 8, 10.5 iPad Pro, or newer devices will be able to play it. Respawn will be rolling out Apex Legends Mobile in series of global tests. Players can head to their Google Play Store page and pre-register for one of the most anticipated upcoming shooters for mobile.

Battlefield Mobile

EA’s mobile studio Industrial Toys is teaming up with DICE to bring a new Battlefield game exclusively to mobile devices. The game is expected to launch sometime in 2022 for smartphones and tablets. This game will be a standalone title, separate from the PC and console version of Battlefield’s new game which is set to launch later this year. The upcoming Battlefield mobile game will be a “fully-fledged, skill-based” game according to Oskar Gabrielson, general manager at DICE. Battlefield Mobile will be available on Android and iOS devices for both smartphones and tablets, however, there is no word yet on controller support or the minimum hardware requirements.

PUBG: New State

Since it was listed on Google Play Store, PUBG: New State has crossed the 10 million pre-registrations mark. The mobile game, believed to be a successor to one of the most popular battle royale games of all time, PUBG Mobile, was announced in February this year and has been available for pre-registrations on both Google Play ever since. PUBG: New State pre-registrations have not been made available in India as the company is working on first re-launching PUBG Mobile in the country. Battlegrounds Mobile India

A few days ago KRAFTON announced ‘Battlegrounds Mobile India', the India-exclusive battle royale the studio had been working on following the ban of PUBG Mobile in the country. The new game will be released with exclusive outfits, features, and in-game events. KRAFTON also seeks to build its own esports ecosystem for the country with various tournaments and leagues. The game will be free to play and will be playable on mobile devices.

Earlier in November 2020, PUBG Mobile India was announced by Krafton with various new features including the game being set in "a virtual simulation training ground," instead of the battlefields, automatic clothing for characters, time restriction for underage players, and green hit effects (to replace the red blood colored ones). Unfortunately, a game with that title did not officially launch in the Play Store or the iOS store. Battlegrounds Mobile India could be a renamed version of this previously announced game.

The game has already generated a tonne of hype with players in the country. This short snippet was viewed more than 12 million times on YouTube, making it one of the greatly anticipated top upcoming shooters for mobile. There is no official release date just yet but pre-registrations will open up at a later date and fans will be able to sign up on their mobile devices to get notified as soon as the game is available for download.
