The League of Legends (LoL): Wild Rift Champions Korea 2021 is one of Korea’s regional leagues for Riot Games’ rising mobile MOBA title. The tournament will feature three invited teams as well as five teams who qualified from the Wariwari Rumble 2021, the first official Wild RIft esports event in Korea. The crowned champion in Wild Rift Champions Korea 2021 will represent Korea in the upcoming Wild Rift Worlds Championship 2021. The Wild Rift Champions Korea 2021 boasts a prize pool of 80 Million South Korean won ($69,000 USD). The tournament will be held offline in LoL Park in Seoul, South Korea.

Wild Rift Champions Korea 2021 details

The tournament will serve as the qualifiers for the upcoming Wild Rift Worlds Championship 2021 which is expected to kick off in December 2021. Eight top-tier teams will be competing for the lion’s share of the 80 Million South Korean won prize pool.

LoL Park in Seoul, Korea

The tournament will be held offline in LoL Park which is located in Gran Seoul Tower, South Korea. However, there will be no audience and it can only be watched live through a livestream.

Here are the format and schedule of the Wild Rift Champions Korea 2021;

Group Stage (7th - 12th Sept 2021)

The teams will be split into two groups with four teams each. The matches will be played in a single round-robin BO3 format. The top two teams of each group will proceed to the playoffs.

Playoffs (16th - 19th Sept 2021)

The playoffs will be played in a single-elimination format. The semifinals and the third-place matches will be played in BO5 while the grand finals will be settled in a BO7 format.

Wild Rift Champions Korea 2021 prize pool distribution

Here is the complete prize pool distribution for the teams based on their finals standing;

  • 1st: ₩30,000,000 ($25,896 USD)

  • 2nd: ₩20,000,000 ($17,264 USD)

  • 3rd: ₩12,000,000 ($10,359 USD)

  • 4th: ₩8,000,000 ($6,906 USD)

  • 5th - 8th: ₩2,500,000 ($2,158 USD)

Where to watch the Wild Rift Champions Korea 2021

The tournament will be broadcasted live on the official Twitch and YouTube channels of Wild Rift Esports Korea.

Considering that South Korea has one of the biggest fanbases for LoL PC, it will be interesting to see if the fans will transition to Wild Rift and bolster the mobile MOBA title’s esports ecosystem in the future.
