Vietnam Will Be the First Region to Have a Second Wild Rift league

Riot Games announced that Vietnam will have its second League of Legends Wild Rift League. The Wild Rift Champions Southeast Asia (WCS) 2022 - Vietnam will have two series namely Series A and B. This was revealed through a promotional video posted on the official YouTube channel of Wild Rift Vietnam. The first series is scheduled to kick off on 25th Feb and will feature the five directly invited teams along with three teams from the qualifiers competing for the $160 thousand USD prize pool and the opportunity to participate in the WCS 2022 Championship. More information regarding WCS 2022 - Vietnam Series B is yet to be revealed.

WCS 2022 - Vietnam Series tournament details

The tournament will start with a qualifier for Vietnamese Wild Rift teams. The top eight teams from the qualifiers will be divided into two. The top three will proceed to the group stage of the WCS 2022 - Vietnam Series A while the remainder will proceed to Series B.

The group stage of the WCS 2022 - Vietnam Series A will be held on 25th Feb and will last until 27th March. Matches will be played in a BO3 round robin format. The top six teams will proceed to the playoffs stage.

The playoffs stage will start on 1st April and will last until 10th April. Matches will be played in a double-elimination format where the top two teams from the group stage will start in the second round while the remaining teams will start in the first round.

The top teams from the playoffs stage will participate in the upcoming WCS 2022 Championship. However, Riot Games is yet to reveal how many Vietnamese teams will be seeded in the regional championship.

The directly invited teams will be joined with the top three teams from the qualifiers stage in the group stage to determine who will take the championship title in the WCS 2022 - Vietnam.

With Vietnam having its second official Wild Rift league, it will be interesting to see if other regions receive the same treatment in the near future.
