The stage is set for Sibol in the 31st SEA Games

With the Sibol Qualifiers having concluded, the teams and pro players representing the Philippines in the upcoming 31st SEA Games have been selected. These teams are for the three PC Esports events - League of Legends, FIFA Online 4, and Crossfire along with Mobile Esports teams for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), League of Legends: Wild Rift Men and Women’s Division, PUBG Mobile individual, PUBG Mobile team, Arena of Valor (AoV), and Garena Free Fire events.

According to a report from SPIN.PH, the number of esports athletes participating in the upcoming events have already been finalized and are ready for deployment.

"For the official registration under Sibol and prior to the competition, it was already discussed as to how many athletes we will finalize for each event," stated Philippine Esports Organization secretary-general, Joebert Yu, as quoted by Spin.PH.

With more esports teams representing the country, the Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino talked about Sibol's ambitions in the upcoming 31st SEA Games. “Comparing the numbers when we hosted the Games in 2019, we’ll have a delegation that’s slashed almost in half from three years ago. And a quick look at the numbers show we’ll be hard-pressed to repeat as overall champions,” he said.

The Sibol national team took home 149 gold medals, 117 silver medals, and 121 bronze medals in the 2019 SEA Games.
