Omega Esports’ Kielvj May Be Switching His Role

Omega Esports’ veteran jungler Kiel "Kielvj" VJ Cruzem could be looking to switch to the role of the team’s mid laner for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9. According to a vlog posted by the team’s EXP laner, Billy "Z4pnu" Jazha Alfonso, the new role may suit him well as he is good at shotcalling. However, the role switch is yet to be approved as Kielvj will first need to prove he can handle being the team’s mid laner.

The switch will be determined after Omega Esports’ scrim sessions, post which the team shall decide if Kielvj is up to the task of being the team’s mid laner in the MPL PH Season 9.

Kielvj could switch from Jungle to Mid Lane

As the fourth week of the MPL PH Season 9 approaches, one of Omega Esports’ pro players may be shifting to a new role soon.

According to Z4pnu, KielVJ may be shifting to a Position (Pos) 4 or Pos 5. These positions normally serve as the shotcallers for the team. “He (Kielvj) fits well, as Pos 4 because he knows how to shotcall,” said Z4pnu.

He further added that if Kielvj plays with Omega Esports’ mid laner Patrick “E2MAX” James Caidic, the two usually aren’t in sync when it comes to shotcalling. Allowing Kielvj to take on the mid laner role may fix this issue.

“Here’s what’s going to happen, if E2MAX and Kielvj play together, their shotcalls overlap, it kinda conflicts,” the EXP laner said.

Positions or “Pos” determine a player’s resource farming priority and role. The higher your position, the more resources you are allowed to farm on the map. Pos 1 is for the Core or Jungler, Pos 2 is the gold lane, Pos 3 is the EXP lane, Pos 4 is the mid lane, and Pos 5 is the roamer. However, this still varies based on a team’s playstyle, strategy, and how they allocate resources efficiently in matches.

Z4pnu added that Kielvj used to play mages which may help him transition to his new role smoothly. However, the team is yet to approve of this transition as Kielvj is yet to try playing his new role in scrim sessions.

Kielvj’s role shift may improve his performance and potentially build better team chemistry with Omega Esports’ star jungler Dean “Raizen” Christian Sumagui.
