One of the biggest mobile esports titles, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), has reached a new milestone as it peaked at 2.2 million views in the 31st SEA Games. The grand finale of the biannual MLBB event was the catalyst for the achievement where the Philippines (PH) dominated in its match against the Indonesian (ID) team. The match was quite controversial due to a protest stating that the PH Squad abused pause requests to distract its opponent. The peak viewership was ten times the amount accumulated during the 2019 SEA Games MLBB event, which also saw the PH representatives winning the Gold medal.

The official page of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) PH celebrated a major milestone achieved in the biannual event which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

“Thank you for your continuous support in building this ecosystem together! We appreciate every single view!” MPL PH captioned.

According to a report from Esports Charts, the match between the Philippines and Indonesia was the most viewed match in the whole three-day MLBB event. It peaked at 2.2 million views. In comparison to the previous event, the 2019 SEA Games only accrued around 284,888 views in the grand finals.

While this is a record-breaking moment in the SEA Games MLBB event, this pales in comparison to other major tournaments. The title of the most viewed MLBB game was between ONIC PH and RRQ Hoshi in the M3 World Championship playoffs where it peaked at around 3.2 million views. It surpassed the grand finals match between Blacklist International and ONIC PH in the world series where it only reached 3.1 million peak views.

As the MLBB esports scene continues to grow, more people may be tuning in to its major tournaments which may result in more record-breaking milestones in the future.
