ECHO's Yawi Upset for Not Being Able to Face Former Team, Nexplay EVOS

ECHO’s Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera was left disappointed after his former team Nexplay EVOS did not show up for their highly-anticipated match on the third day of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9 Week 4. Through a post-match interview, after ECHO received a win by default due to Nexplay EVOS receiving a penalty from the League, Yawi lamented at not being able to face his former team. The former Nexplay EVOS player will have to wait a bit longer before he gets to face his former squad in the final week of the MPL PH Season 9.

Through a post-match interview, Yawi revealed that he was really preparing for the match against Nexplay EVOS.

“I was looking forward to it, of course. My former team, I wanna beat them,” Yawi said.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Nexplay EVOS was unable to reach the venue in time, resulting in a loss by default for the match series against ECHO. According to the official statement by Nexplay EVOS, the delay was due to a flat tire and heavy traffic.

Yawi added that he had prepared a few friendly retorts to spice up the rivalry if ECHO had won the match officially.

“I wanted to (trash talk) if we do win, unfortunately, they got DQ (disqualified),” said the roamer.

According to Yawi, he asked his close friends and former teammates - Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse and John Paul “H2wo” Salonga to play in the second match series which is scheduled to be held on the eighth week of the MPL PH Season 9 regular season.

“Renejay and H2wo aren’t supposed to play in this game. What was supposed to happen was they would play on the second round, they can bring CADENZA, the three of them,” Yawi said.

ECHO’s roamer specialist ended his statement by apologizing to fans for raising their hopes only to see the highly-anticipated match get canceled.

“To those who were looking forward to the match, sorry if the star match did not happen, disqualified (Nexplay EVOS). We couldn’t deliver a good match,” Yawi said.

Both ECHO and Nexplay EVOS shall look to settle the score in the final week of the regular season of the MPL PH Season 9 on 10th April at 8:00 PM (PHT).
