RSG PH continued to prove its title as the “Kingslayers” after taking down last season’s runner-up team, ONIC PH in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9 playoffs. RSG PH secured an impressive 3-0 clean sweep victory to secure its upper-bracket semi-finals slots to face TNC Pro Team. Through a post-match press conference, the team’s head coach Brian "Panda" Lim expressed his confidence in RSG PH being ready to face the top contenders of the MPL PH Season 9 in the playoffs stage. Panda also lauded Eman "EMANN" Sangco for his valiant efforts in role switching from a Jungler to a Gold Laner.

RSG PH found its identity this season

During the regular season, RSG PH surprised the fans after dominating its matches in the second half of the season. The Kingslayers quickly rose up the leaderboard, claiming the top spot before the MPL PH Season 9 regular season concluded.

With an amazing run in the playoffs so far, Panda shared RSG PH’s journey from being one of the bottom teams last season to one of the top contenders in the league.

“Season 8, it was a painful season for us because we lacked preparation,“ stated the RSG PH coach. “We have lots of reasons that we wanted to bounce up to show ‘This is Us!’ because all of the fans did not expect that these players, who never have a championship title, not even once, would perform this well.”

Unlike other teams, RSG PH never let go of its players during the pre-season preparation for the MPL PH Season 9. Instead, the team acquired Dylan "Light" Aaron Catipon and Clarense "Kousei" Camilo who were former TNC Pro Team members.

Additionally, the team’s Jungler last season, EMANN switched to being the team's Gold Laner giving Jonard "Demonkite" Cedrix Caranto the spotlight as the team’s one and only Jungler.

Heading into the 9th season, the team not only improved their performance in scrim sessions but have also developed a friendship, making the team inseparable.

“Before the MPL [Season 9] started, all our scrims were doing good but that’s not only their performance in scrims but also their bonding, their communication, their execution was so brilliant,” stated Coach Panda.

He added that he is not specifically referring to the five main lineup of RSG PH, but also players such as Kousei, Kenneth "Kenji" Jiane Villa, Earvin "Heath" John Esperanza, Dexter "Exort" Martinez, and Elyson "Wrecker" Edouard Caranza.

With the team finally finding its team chemistry and identity, Panda went on to say that “We are now complete… We are in the playoffs and we are ready.”

RSG PH will continue its upper bracket bout against TNC Pro Team on 30th April. ONIC PH, on the other hand, will head to the lower bracket playoffs and will be facing Omega Esports.
