The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 8 champions, Blacklist International, reveal that they are looking forward to facing Team SMG in the upcoming MPL Invitational (MPLI) 2021. Team SMG was crowned as the champions of MPL Malaysia (MY) Season 8 after a clean sweep victory score of 4-0 against the fan-favorite Todak, in the grand finals. This grabbed the attention of the two-time MPL PH champions and they now wish to face Team SMG in the upcoming invitational event. Both teams will not only face each other in the MPLI 2021 but also in the upcoming M3 World Championship 2021.

Blacklist International’s coach BON CHAN and team captain OhMyV33nus speak about facing Team SMG

After winning the MPL MY Season 8, Team SMG grabbed the attention of the two-time MPL PH champions, Blacklist International. Through a press conference held after the Grand Finals, the MPL PH champions’ team captain Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna expressed his interest in facing Team SMG.

“For me (I want to face), Team SMG,” stated OhMyV33nus. “Because they scored 4-0 in the grand finals which is against Todak and I think they are a very solid team.”

The team’s head coach Bonn “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza also echoed OhMyV33nus’ statement, saying that Team SMG is a worthy opponent to face in the upcoming MPLI 2021.

“We want to face Team SMG,” stated BON CHAN. “They swept their (MPL MY Season 8) finals so I think they’re a good opponent and we want to face them.”

Since Team SMG’s debut back in 2017, the team has been in the MPL for quite some time now. However, it acquired its first championship title only recently. The team made drastic changes to its roster such as acquiring the former ONIC Esports Indonesia’s Lu “SaSa” Khai Bean, the former RRQ Hoshi coach and two-time MPL Indonesia (ID) champion James “James” Chen. This roster update gave them the edge they needed to dominate the MPL MY Season 8 and they finished the grand finals with a 4-0 clean sweep victory against Todak, one of the most popular Mobile Legends teams in Malaysia.

Blacklist International’s wish to compete against Team SMG will be granted in the upcoming MPLI 2021 and the M3 World Championship. It will be interesting to see who shall emerge as the victor between these two teams in the upcoming tournaments.
