Zellsis Leaves Sentinels Valorant Roster to Join Version1

Sentinels player Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, who joined the team during the North America (NA) Last Chance Qualifiers of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), announced his departure from the team. He is going back to Version1 after his brief stint with Sentinels. Version1 has officially confirmed the news and Zellsis’ return might bolster the team’s chances of making it to Valorant Champions next year. The team showed a lot of promise at the start of the Valorant Champions Tour this year but the players could not deliver results at the playoffs stages despite performing well in the open qualifiers.

Version1 needs to return to its VCT Stage 1 form

Anyone who watched North American Valorant esports at the start of the 2022 VCT circuit would tell you that Version1 is one of the most promising teams in the region. Zellsis was one of the best players in Valorant just a few months ago and the team looked to dominate after some incredible performances at the open qualifiers.

At the Stage 1 Challengers event, Version1 was 5-0 against some of the biggest teams in NA including OpTic, Sentinels, NRG, and more. But it could not maintain its momentum and fell flat after back to back losses against Luminosity and Sentinels. Since its disappointing exit after an explosive start at the Challengers event, Version1 has struggled to find its form once again.

After the disappointing exit from Challengers, Version1 struggled to find its form and Zellsis eventually moved to Sentinels. The story was the same with Sentinels as well as the 2021 Stage 1 and Stage 2 champion was unable to replicate its success in 2022. Zellsis’ arrival in the team did not help and Sentinels could not qualify for Champions 2022 via the Last Chance Qualifiers.

If the player can help Version1 return to its peak in 2023, the North American esports scene could open up significantly. The region is considered weaker than Europe and Asia-Pacific by many pro players and analysts alike, and only time will tell if Version1 and the rest of North America will be able to catch up to the rest of the competition next year.
