Guild Esports lost to NaVi with a 2-1 scoreline and is facing a lower bracket run

The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region kicked off on 7th August with eight teams battling it out for the final spot to represent this region at Valorant Champions in Istanbul, Turkey in September. The first two days of the tournament featured the upper bracket quarterfinals. On 8th August, teams Guild Esports (GLD) and Natus Vincere (NaVi) went up against each other and NaVi won the series with a 2-1 scoreline. Despite having a close series, Guild looked very shaky at times. However, Guild’s player Leo “Leo” Jannesson had a clutch play in Map 1: Haven and won his team a round all by himself in the VCT EMEA LCQ.

Guild Esports Leo wins a 1v5 round on Haven

Things were not going according to plan for Guild Esports as it was trailing behind by four rounds in Map 1: Haven. The round score was 5:1 favoring NaVi and Guild, which was on the attack side, failed to clear the C site on Haven and four members died in quick succession. With a minute left on the clock, Guild Leo was up against five members of NaVi, and three of them had full HP with heavy shields. First, NaVi’s Raze player Kirill “Cloud” Nehozhin pushed out of C long to fight Guild Leo and was punished for his aggressive play. Following this, Leo walked into the C site and secured a collateral kill using the Sheriff on NaVi’s Breach and Omen. At this point, the round turned into a 2v1 situation and after swapping out his Spectre for a Vandal, Guild Leo aggressively pushed and killed the NaVi member on C site and successfully planted the spike. The last standing member of NaVi was Artur “7ssk7” Kyurshin, a Chamber who was on Operator duty. After 7ssk7 whiffed his Operator shot, Guild Leo secured his fifth kill of the round and got an incredible ace.

Guild Esports went on to challenge NaVi on Haven and lost the map very closely with an 11-13 scoreline. The fortunes were reversed on Map 2: Split where Guild Esports won with a 13-11 scoreline. Unfortunately, it could not win the decider map and managed to secure only nine rounds on Icebox.

Following this Upper Bracket defeat to NaVi, Guild Esports will be taking on BBL Esports in the Lower Bracket Round 1 in the VCT EMEA LCQ today on 9th August.
