Valorant Masters Reykjavik 2022: OpTic Gaming Reign Supreme

OpTic Gaming defeated LOUD 3-0 to take home the Stage One Masters titles. The North American team that was formed in February 2022 with former Team Envy players being signed to the team. The team had a successful run throughout Stage One and despite being knocked to the lower bracket by LOUD earlier this event, it made a comeback and sweeped the Brazilian team to take home the Stage One championship.

In the first map, OpTic took home a 13-9 victory with Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen being on the top of his game on Omen and dismantling the opposition. LOUD had the upper hand in the first half with a 7-3 lead but OpTic took home the win after a comeback on the back of solid solid performances from Marved and Austin "Crashies" Roberts.

Bind saw LOUD take an early lead once again with things staying at 8-4 in LOUD's favor. OpTic made a comeback once again by pushing things to overtime and this time it was Jacob "yay" Whitetaker who was able to keep up with LOUD's unrelenting pressure with Brazilian star player Erick "aspas" Santos giving OpTic no breathing room.

In the third and final map of the night LOUD had the lead once again in the first-half. OpTic was able to respond to LOUD's 8-4 lead with a 8-4 performance of its own in the second half and take home the title.

After being formed in February, OpTic has been able to overcome all adds and cement itself as the strongest team in not just North America but also at the international stage. We will see the Stage One champions compete once again in the next LAN in a bid to defend its title.
