Valorant Champions: The Final 16 Teams Headed to The World Championship

The Valorant Champions Tour’s (VCT) Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ) are now officially over and we have sixteen teams locked in to compete in Berlin later this year. After a year of regional qualifiers and international Masters events, it will be one of these sixteen teams who will become the first-ever world champions. Riot Games announced that Valorant Champions will take place in December 2021.

Which teams are headed to Valorant Champions?

The sixteen teams competing in Valorant Champions were selected via Valorant Masters events, Last Chance Qualifier events and circuit point leaderboards. Europe is the top-seeded region and will be sending four representatives while other regions have three teams or lesser representing them.

Sentinels was the most dominant team globally throughout Stage One and Two with the North American team securing impressive winstreaks at LAN events. But at Valorant Masters Berlin (Stage Three), we saw other regions split the competition wide open. Gambit Esports, Team Envy and G2 Esports are just some of the teams that looked like strong contenders heading into the event.

Southeast Asia (SEA) has yet to get a fair shot in an international setting with one of its best teams Bren Esports not being able to compete at Berlin. The Bren roster was later picked up by Team Secret and the team will be heading to Champions as the second seed from SEA.

Unfortunately, Oceania was unable to compete in the North America LCQ due to COVID-19 restrictions preventing them from competing. Hopefully, all eligible regions will get a fair shot next year.

Valorant Champions: Format

The format of the event has not been finalized yet but Riot Games will be revealing more details as we get closer to the event. Valorant LAN events typically have double-elimination brackets with best-of-three and best-of-five rounds.

When is Valorant Champions taking place?

Valorant Champions is taking place from 1st December 2021 with the grand final scheduled to take place on 12th December 2021.
