Rocket League S9 Champion ‘Rizzo’ Departs from G2 Esports

Dillon “Rizzo” Rizzo has officially departed G2 Esports after being with the organization for over four years. The player officially retired from professional Rocket League in February 2022 but he continued to be a part of the content creation team at G2 Esports. He officially left the organization on 29 June, 2021. While it is unknown if Rizzo will be joining a different organization for content creation, the player has indicated that he will continue to stream Rocket League for the foreseeable future. He is one of the best pro Rocket League players of all time with multiple RLCS wins and top finishes over the years.

Rizzo leaves G2 as one of the best Rocket League players in North America

Rizzo has secured multiple Rocket League Championship Series wins and he also won Rocket League Spring Series NA last year. He retired from competitive Rocket League in February 2021 but he continued to be a part of G2 Esports. He is currently focused on content creation and will continue to stream the game for his fans. The player joined G2 Esports in February 2017 after being a part of Orange Creamsicle, Mock-It eSports NA and Take 3.

In addition to team accolades he has also earned individual awards like the Clutch Playmaker and Saviour of the Season Awards at RLCS. Rizzo has been competing as a professional Rocket League player since 2015 and he has secured tournament winnings of over $255,066. The player has been a part of competitive Rocket League since Season 2. He is also a successful content creator with over 613,000 followers on Twitch and over 631,000 subscribers on YouTube.

G2’s future without Rizzo

Upon stepping down from pro play in February 2021, Rizzo revealed that he will finish Season 2 with G2 Esports but he mentioned that he will take a step back in how his role is in the pro Rocket League scene. Rizzo initially wanted to retire back in previous winter split but G2 Esports was unable to find a replacement for him.

The organization has JKnaps, Chicago and Jahzo competing under G2 but the team has been unable to secure wins at the RLCS Season X NA Championship and RLCS Season X NA Major earlier this year. Andres “Dreaz” Jordan subbed in for Rizzo for some events but was not added to the full-time roster.
