Riot Games Reveals Valorant Champions Tour 2022 Format for Asia-Pacific

Valorant Champions Tour 2022 will create more opportunities in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region than ever before.
The APAC Circuit will now officially include South Asia and Oceania as competing regions instead of them being counted as imports.
South Asia will have two teams representing the region this year compared to just one in 2021.

The 2022 season of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) is set to include even more countries than last year. Riot Games just revealed the format of this year’s Asia Pacific (APAC) VCT events and we now have South Asia and Oceania added to region. Previously, both regions had to compete via their respective regional events for a qualification to the Last Chance Qualifiers. Instead, the regions will now get an entry into the APAC Challengers events that are scheduled to take place later this year. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming event.

New regions in VCT APAC 2022

South Asia and Oceania will be a part of the APAC circuit which increases the total number of participating sub-regions in the event to eight. South Asia and Oceania will now fall under the APAC residency rule and will no longer be counted as imports.

Competing Regions in VCT APAC 2022

The competing regions that fall under the APAC region and their respective slots are listed below:

  • Thailand – 3 Slots

  • Philippines – 3 Slots

  • Indonesia – 3 Slots

  • Vietnam – 3 Slots

  • Malaysia and Singapore – 3 Slots

  • Taiwan and Hong Kong – 2 Slots

  • South Asia – 2 Slots

  • Oceania – 1 Slot

A total of 20 teams will be competing in the APAC Challengers events this year. All sub-regions except South Asia and Oceania will compete in local challengers events to qualify for the regional playoffs. South Asia will compete in the Valorant Conquerors Championship to qualify for APAC Challengers events while Oceania will qualify via Lets Play events.

Valorant Champions Tour 2022 Format

The new season will be structured around three events – Masters 1, Masters 2 and champions. The APAC region will participate in local challengers, regional playoffs and global events to make it to Champion 2022.

Local Challengers: Teams will participate in local-level tournaments for a chance to secure a seed at the Regional Playoffs.

Regional Playoffs: Teams that qualify for the Playoffs will compete for Circuit Points. The teams which secure enough points will be invited to Global Events.

Global Events: These international events come with prestige, high prize pools and Circuit Point pools.
