League of Legends’ pre-season updates are designed to bridge the gap between two annual ranked seasons. Riot Games typically implements major gameplay changes during pre-seasons and introduces new systems that players can try out ahead of the official ranked season.

Pre-season 11 introduced mythic and legendary items and in pre-season 12, Riot Games is looking to change Elemental Dragons and introduce new Mythic sets to the game, specifically for supports and mid-laners. Here is everything that is coming to the new League of Legends pre-season 12 later this year.

More mythic and legendary items

More mythic and legendary items will be added for mages and supports in the pre-season. Supports are currently restricted in terms of items and there are not many options to boost support capabilities. Riot Games wants to introduce items that allow supports to spam their spells and make support gameplay a lot more enjoyable. We can expect more info on the new items after Worlds 2021 comes to a close.

Udyr Rework

Udyr Rework

Udyr is getting a visual and graphics update (VGU) but there is no official word on when it will be available. Riot Games will release a separate blog to talk about his design changes sometime soon. Designer Justin “Riot Earp” Albers has been working on Udyr’s changes and will be making each of his stances associated with a Freljordian demigod, a well-received idea that was floated to the community in a previous blog.

More comeback mechanics to be added

In the new pre-season, Riot Games wants to spice things up for pro-play with a new objective bounty system that will give losing players a chance to pull off comebacks. In the current meta, falling behind in the early game leads to a steamroll in most cases and Riot Games wants to change that.

Teams that fall behind in the early game will get access to an objective bounty system that will reward more gold from towers. While objective bounties will be given to all players, the rewards will be given only to players who secure the objectives. The new system seeks to allow teams that are falling behind to make comebacks and prevent one-sided games.

Changes to runes and keystones

Major changes are coming to Precision, Lethal Tempo and Glacial Augment. Some of the runes and keystones will be fully reworked and Riot Games wants to introduce more attack speed buffs to the game. A progression system has also been teased and more details can be expected as we get closer to the pre-season.

We can expect specific details about pre-season 12 from Riot after Worlds 2021 ends on 6th November, 2021.
