Riot Games is targeting yet another new champion. This time around it is nerfing Renata Glasc through a micropatch in Patch 12.4.
Riot feels that her win rates are creeping up across all ranks in Solo Queue.
Her W ability - Bailout seemed to have borne the brunt of the nerfs.

League of Legends’ latest champion Renata Glasc is getting nerfed in just a week after her release on the live servers. The new enchanter support champion was launched in Patch 12.4 but has already been slated for some nerfs as her win rate is creeping above 50% across multiple ranks in Solo Queue.

Game Designer Blake “Squad5” Smith revealed Renata’s adjustments on Twitter and another game designer Riot Ezra “Phlox” Lynn confirmed that the micropatch will be rolled out today (23rd Feb).

Why is Renata getting nerfed mid-patch

Enchanter support Renata Glasc has been giving the other supports quite the run for their money on the rift, through her unique ability kit. Her abilities are designed in a manner that allows her to control the pace of the game and have the upper hand during team fights. She can empower allies with buffs and even make enemies fight amongst themselves. But her early win rates seem to be soaring very high.

According to a Dexerto report, Renata’s win rate currently sits at 50.09% globally five days after her release, creeping up to 53% in higher rank tiers, and is expected to grow further as players master the champion.

Renata Stats

With her potential still left to be understood, Riot is introducing some emergency nerfs for Renata Glasc on 23rd Feb to bring her win rates under control before the next patch gets released.

Explaining this, Smith wrote on Twitter, “Renata micropatch nerf coming live very soon here. Put in some quick context as to why we're targeting what we're targeting. Generally looks like her WR (win rate) growth will continue a bit so we want to get some nerfs in now.

Renata nerfs

All in all it looks like Riot is targeting her most “overpowered” ability which is W - Bailout.

W - Bailout lets Renata Glasc grant an allied champion or herself increased attack speed and movement speed toward enemies. If the ally gets a takedown on an enemy champion, the buff duration resets. If the ally dies while Bailout is still active, their health is set back to full but they begin burning to death over 3 seconds. The ally can stop the burn by killing a champion before they die.

Renata Glasc’s nerfs include:

  • Armor growth reduced from 4 to 3.5

  • Passive damage reduced from 1 to 5% max HP to 1 to 3%, stops scaling at level 11

  • W - Bailout:

  1. Cooldown increased from 28 to 20 seconds to 28 to 24

  2. Burnout duration reduced from 3 seconds to 2.5 seconds

  3. Bailout revive HP reduced from 35% max hp to 20%

There could be a drop in the number of players opting to play Renata following these changes. Currently, this newest League of Legends support has a pick rate of 16.9% and a ban rate of 42.2% in Platinum and higher tiers, according to U.GG. It is still unconfirmed whether Renata would be unlocked in the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) and the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) as both the leagues resume play in Patch 12.4 this week.
