Players Can Now Pre-Order Fortnite-Themed Magic the Gathering Cards

Magic the Gathering publisher Wizards of the Coast is now accepting pre-orders for a Fortnite-themed card set. The new set in Magic brings Fortnite-themed cards to the popular collectible card game (CCG). It is unknown if the cards will remain exclusive as physical copies or if they will be available as digital cards in Magic the Gathering: Arena.

What is Fortnite Secret Lair?

Magic the Gathering often released limited-time sets called “Secret Lairs” and they are aimed at collectors instead of being competitive cards. Magic had previously collaborated with Street Fighter and now with the new Fortnite drop it is bringing some of the popular locations and characters in a physical card format.

There are two mini sets that players can collect. The first general set has reskins of existing cards that are available in Magic. There are a total of seven cards in this set and they serve as cosmetic variants of existing cards.

The second set belongs to the Landmarks and Locations set which features land cards with Fortnite-themed artwork. For those who have not played Magic, Lands essentially serve as “mana” and you need them in decks to play cards. The foil editions of the cards are available with a shiny metallic finish and are more expensive than the standard cards.

The new cards will be available in both foil and non-foil editions. It is currently unknown if the collaboration between Epic Games and Wizards of the Coast will also lead to digital items within Fortnite. Some of the artwork that was released on the promo page for the crossover hint that Fortnite players will get access to loading screens. But it is also possible that the collaboration is one-way and Fortnite players will not receive any exclusive items.

Purchasing the bundles offer no perks to Fortnite players and they are meant to be collector’s edition items only for fans who love both Magic and Epic Games’ popular battle royale.
