NICKMERCS Reaches Master in Apex Legends in Under Two Weeks

FaZe Clan's Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff managed to hit Master on stream in Apex Legends in under two weeks. Nick has been playing with Team Liquid’s Thomas "72HRS" Mulligan and former FaZe Clan member, Dennis “Cloakzy” Lepore. He managed to reach Master with a win but his teammates are still in Diamond 1 and closing in on Master. The streamer revealed earlier this month that he is addicted to Apex Legends and wants to reach Apex Predator this season. He recently moved from Warzone after being frustrated by the state of the game.

NICKMERCS’ two-week journey to Master in Apex Legends

NICKMERCS started off playing with Timothy John “TimTheTatman” Betar and Cloakzy, but Tim failed to keep up with the ranked points Nick and Cloakzy were earning. After playing with various pro players from the Apex Legends community, he settled on playing with Cloakzy and 72HRS for his grind to Masters. The streamer is currently at over 10,070 Ranked Points (RP). He streamed for over 16 hours before calling it a day and said that he will resume his ranked grind later this week.

Unlike Master, which requires players to reach a fixed MMR (10,000 ranked points), Apex Predator is achievable only by the top 750 players globally. Currently, NICKMERCS is trying to get Apex Predator, for which he will need to reach at least 10,400 RP and he will also have to maintain a spot among the top 750 players in the world this split.

He is not the only Warzone player who made the move to Apex Legends, with multiple content creators like Tfue, xQc, and stonemountain64 doing the same. Apex Legends was experiencing massive growth since the start of 2021 and Warzone’s biggest creators moving to the game recently has pushed its popularity even further, making it the most trending game on Twitch.

Yesterday, Apex veteran Timmy ‘iiTzTimmy’ Ann was able to go head-to-head with the Valorant Champions Tour’s viewership on his own by clocking over 148,000 concurrent viewers in a 54-hour stream where he went from Bronze to Apex Predator in a single sitting. He had over a million unique viewers during the stream and his feat was not only acknowledged by Respawn Entertainment, he was also trending on Twitter globally.

However, not everyone is pleased with the attention that the game is getting, with a part of the Apex Legends community being concerned about a potential rise in cheaters. With the game’s anti-cheat being a topic of controversy, Apex Legends might face the same issue as Call of Duty: Warzone if the long-awaited anti-cheat improvements are not deployed in time.
